Theexhibition Hypnose by artist Diane Benoit du Rey is on view at theEspace Richaud in Versailles from October 20 to December 3, 2023, offering visitors a visual journey featuring ten vibrant works and two installations specially designed for this historic venue. Born in Versailles in 1989 and trained at theÉcole des Arts Décoratifs in Strasbourg, Diane Benoit du Rey demonstrates an exceptional mastery of light and color. The artist's chromatic work reflects a deep understanding of the deployment of color in space, making each work and installation a dialogue between the visible and the invisible.
The ten large- and medium-format works on show come from the artist's most recent series, in which color and its chromatic gradations captivate and explode before the viewer's eyes. Beyond the paintings, two installations created especially forEspace Richaud enrich the visual experience. The first features a circle of colored sand, delicately placed in the center of the rotunda, symbolizing the pigments that have escaped from the artist's paintings. This eye-catching creation offers a tangible echo of Diane Benoit du Rey's colorful world.
Upstairs, another surprise awaits visitors. Fifty meters of painted hangings cover the walls of the rotunda, highlighting theEspace Richaud's coffered dome. The interaction of colors with the building's stone creates a stunning visual dynamic, accentuated by a sound creation by François Delamarre that envelops visitors in a journey through colors.
