This summer, five renowned documentary photographers - Mathias Depardon, Ismail Ferdous, Théo Giacometti, Gaia Squarci and Alessandro Silvestri - embarked on an original project to create the first temporary exhibition at the 99 Cameras Museum, located in the heart of the famous Studio Harcourt. They photographed their vacations with 5 iconic old cameras, made between 1935 and 1964, which were entrusted to them for the occasion, giving rise to a reflection on instantaneity and today's digital mass production.
Under the artistic direction of Jonas Cuénin, director of Blind magazine,"The Analog Chronicles" exhibition takes the time to live in the moment, through summer photos, peacefully documenting southern European landscapes, swimming, games, walks and special family moments. It's a project that breaks away from commissioned photography, allowing us to refocus for a moment on our own lives and those of our loved ones, through their passion.
As for the cameras used, some of which are almost a century old, they have been restored by Pelloche Moi for full use. They include the Nikon F from 1959, used by photojournalists, the Canon 7, an icon of the 1960s, the Widelux F6, a panoramic camera, the Kodak Retina 117, a model from the 1930s, and the Contax 1 from 1932. These are real nuggets that have a rightful place in this free museum!
