From December 6, 2024 to February 28, 2025, the former Saint-Ouen-sur-Seine ice rink - now transformed into the town's cultural venue - will host Léa's Ocean, an exhibition as poetic as it is immersive. A veritable ode to nature and this natural space on our planet, the project is led by artist Junior Fritz Jacquet (known as JFJ), who hopes to use the occasion to raise public awareness of ocean protection.
Embark on a journey to the heart of the underwater world at the former skating rink in Saint-Ouen-sur-Seine, in the Seine-Saint-Denis département: here, you'll enter an almost magical universe, inhabited by fish, algae and other underwater species. Over an area of more than 1,500 m², Junior artist Fritz Jacquet takes you on a voyage of discovery of our oceans, without you even having to dip your head underwater!
"It's a building that's very important to me," explains the artist, who spent his entire adolescence in Saint-Ouen, back when the ice rink was still one. " My aim was to change the place and make an artistic work so that people who know the old skating rink realize the transformation it has undergone, and so that those who don't know it realize that this magic will remain for a long time to come", explains the former Audonien . So l'Océan de Léa is a gateway to the imaginary, a one-way ticket to a dream world where you can feel, hear and live in the depths of the ocean, under a sky of stingrays and paper jellyfish.
To create this unique and particularly immersive universe, JFJ neededover three months to design the entire exhibition in situ, creating, modulating and adapting his ideas to the relatively restrictive location. All in all, l'Océan de Léa required 10 tonnes of paper to create, and not just any paper: greaseproof paper, salvaged from a factory that was clearing out its stocks.
On your way out, you'll find a store where you can buy exhibition goodies, as well as a small origami book for children, designed and imagined by JFJ himself: tables for learning origami (with step-by-step tutorials) are also available in the store. Upstairs, a bar area offers all kinds of drinks, with a panoramic view of the entire exhibition.
To raise public awareness of the ocean and offer activities for all audiences, storytelling tours, lectures and even a contest for the most beautiful aquarium will be organized at the former Saint-Ouen skating rink during the exhibition.
This immersive, family-friendly exhibition costs €12.50 per adult and €9 per child (aged 3 to 12). Children under 3 pay no admission. A lovely exhibition to discover from December 6!
