Take advantage of this new edition of the Journées européennes des Métiers d'Art to discover the secrets of the Sèvres factory, in the company of one of its craftsmen.
Every year, the Journées Européennes des Métiers d'Art (or JEMA) gives us the opportunity to visit workshops, museums and other monuments, to discover the treasures hidden there, and the craftsmen who look after them. In the spring of 2024, from April 2 to 7 to be precise, over a thousand events will be taking place all over France.
Among this host of events are exceptional free visits to the porcelain production workshops of Sèvres-Manufacture and Musées nationaux. The Manufacture awaits us on April 4, 6 and 7 to reveal its treasures and secrets. Reservations are essential.
The Manufacture de Sèvres is a well-known art and heritage site in the Île-de-France region. Museum, Cité de la Céramique, Heritage Days... It's likely that you've already had the opportunity to discover this place and the works it contains. So there's no reason to go back for JEMA 2024...
Think again! For the Journées des Métiers d'Art, the Manufacture invites us to meet some of its craftsmen, and organizes special themed events open to all, free of charge.
Here's the program for JEMA 2024 at the Manufacture de Sèvres:
- Thursday, April 4, 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm
Exceptional visit to the Manufacture, with access to areas unknown to the public. This is an opportunity to discover the gypsothèque or the Magot, the historic storage area for the Manufacture's molds.

Groups of 15 maximum. Registration required.
- Thursday, April 4, 6 - 8 pm
Architectural tour of the Sèvres Manufacture and Museum and the Jardin des Arts et du Design to discover 19th-century manufacturing heritage.
The Musée et Manufacture de Sèvres has been housed since 1876 on a four-hectare site in the Parc de Saint-Cloud, and boasts a homogeneous late 19th-century architecture. A museum with a classical façade conceals the industrial buildings of the porcelain factory, still in operation today. JAD is a pioneer in the hybridization of know-how, promoting dialogue between art and design. Welcoming 15 craftsmen and designers, it is also a resource center for local professionals, students and enthusiasts.
Free, 15 years and over.
Groups of 15 maximum. Registration required.
- Saturday April 6, 2024, 11am - 7pm and Sunday April 7, 11am - 7pm
Opening of the gravure printing workshop and intaglio printing demonstration.
Grain rotogravure is a photomechanical process created in the 19th century for engraving a photographic image in the depths of copper.
