The Saint-Ouen-sur-Seine skating rink will be opening its doors on Saturday, October 19, 2024, as part of the new Journées nationales de l'architecture. An opportunity to discover this building designed by Paul Chemetov, winner of the Grand Prix National de l'Architecture in 1980.

Scheduled this year for Friday, October 18, Saturday, October 19 and Sunday, October 20, 2024, the Journées nationales de l'architecture are an opportunity to meet and debate with those involved in architecture, as well as to visit architecture agencies and building sites, enjoy urban walks, open houses, exhibitions, film screenings and workshops for young audiences.

With the 2024 theme " New lives for buildings and new practices in architecture ", the Journées nationales de l'architecture will be taking over numerous venues in Paris and elsewhere in the Île-de-France region, including the Saint-Ouen-sur-Seine skating rink.

The Saint-Ouen ice rink was inaugurated in October 1980. Inside? A 56 m x 26 m rink that delighted skating fans. Definitively closed in 2022, the building is now classified as a remarkable heritage site. The building was designed by the famous architect Paul Chemetov.

Paul Chemetov, who died in June 2024, was a leading figure in French architecture. " Recognized for his bold vision and humanistic approach to architecture, Paul Chemetov left his mark on the urban landscape of the Île-de-France region and beyond," wrote the French Ministry of Culture in a tribute to the architect on June 25. Proof of his renown, Paul Chemetov was awarded the Grand Prix national de l'architecture in 1980. His most famous work? The Ministry of Economy and Finance in Paris, built between 1981 and 1989 with Chilean architect Borja Huidobro.

As a tribute to architect Paul Chemetov and as part of the new Journées nationales de l'architecture, the Saint-Ouen skating rink will open its doors to the public on Saturday, October 19, 2024.

An opportunity to find out more about this rink in the Paris region, built between 1975 and 1979, and now one of the training grounds for the French field hockey federation. Since 2022, the rink has been enjoying a new lease of life, hosting exhibitions ("Urbain de Paname" ,"Liquide Liquide"...), as well as shows and film shoots.
