The Paris Sème operation is once again inviting you to collect seed packets of local plants free of charge, this April 27, 2024, on the forecourt of the Hôtel de Ville. There's plenty of time to dress up your window boxes with pretty colors and get your hands in the soil, to celebrate spring, with events focusing on nature in the city and urban agriculture!
These wild plant seeds from the Paris region help local wildlife by providing food and shelter. In return, wildlife provides a service to plants through pollination and seed dispersal- an essential interdependence for biodiversity. Among the plants distributed are chamomile, cornflower, poppy, birdsfoot trefoil, yarrow, musk mallow, small burnet, common oregano, field marigold and field knautie.
The program includes potting and sowing workshops run by Maison du Jardinage, information on training and job opportunities in the green spaces sector withEcole Du Breuil, awareness-raising activities on compost and waste management, climate and water resource issues, educational games for children and blind tastings.
A number of associations will be on hand, including the LPO, which will be presenting curiosities about birds and the biodiversity that surrounds us, the CPN Val de Seine, which will be running a workshop on "Green Music" (making instruments and creating sounds from plants), and Sème Sème, which will be running a workshop on seeds! A mobile toy library and musical entertainment by the Pikolo Brass Band add to the day's great program!
