Fly over Hawaii in VR at iFly, the indoor free-fall experience at Vill'Up

iFly, the world leader in indoor skydiving, is offering a most immersive VR experience from June 18, 2018, as you'll be able to fly over Hawaii, Dubai or California as if you were there. And it's happening at Vill'Up!

Always wanted to go skydiving or parachuting but don't want to leave terra firma? The Vill'Up shopping center has a ready-made solution to meet your expectations, offering an original flight in its indoor freefall center, iFly, from Monday June 18, 2018: a flight over Hawaii, Dubai or California in VR.

A new virtual reality device installed on the helmet that visitors wear during their flight, offering them a free-fall experience as if they were jumping out of a plane. Accompanied by an instructor, the budding aerobatic flyer can enjoy the experience to the full, without worrying about his or her flight in the wind tunnel, since the instructors are there to keep him or her in a stable position.

In total, three flights are scheduled to enjoy the experience: a first one without a VR headset (but with one anyway) to discover (or rediscover) the machine and position oneself correctly; a second one, still without virtual reality, to improve one's performance, with soaring with the monitor at the top of the tube; and a final one with the famous headset.

A VR flight that the editors have of course tested... Our verdict? It's an interesting experience, and we particularly appreciate the 360-degree real-life shots for virtual reality, which make the flight more immersive. On the other hand, we're disappointed to see so little of the landscape, and you have to turn your head sharply to catch a glimpse of Hawaii. Despite this, the experience is pleasant and well worth the detour. Shall we go back, folks?
