Do you remember Les Grands Voisins, a huge third-party space in the 14th arrondissement of Paris that, in addition to welcoming people in precarious situations and migrants, organized a whole program of solidarity and festivities for Parisians and local residents?
If you, too, were disappointed when this third-party space closed, then you must have been delighted by the opening of Les Amarres, a place similar to Les Grands Voisins. But now it's the turn of the Aurore Association and Yes We Camp to close this third-place, which opened in the former Ports Autonomes premises. And it's our turn to bid farewell to a place where it was good to drink, share, chat and meet new people!
During the day on weekdays, over 300 men, women and children in vulnerable and precarious situations were accompanied by social workers, associations, organizations and volunteers involved in the project. On site, these people could eat, shower, rest, wash their clothes and charge their phones, as well as benefiting from legal and social support.
But Les Amarres also unveiled a solidarity refreshment bar and a festive, artistic and cultural program focused on hospitality and social justice.
After more than 3 years of temporary occupation, this friendly, participative venue open to all will close its doors in July 2025, after several days of festivities and cultural events. Thereafter, the building will be transformed into a decarbonized river logistics hotel to provide a permanent home, and the people previously accommodated will be taken in hand.
