For the winter vacations, also known as the February vacation, the Château de Fontainebleau is coming alive with a variety of activities for young and old. Exhibitions, guided tours (especially for families), guided tours and workshops are all on the program, offering a wealth of cultural discoveries.

The Château de Fontainebleau is offering a rich and diverse program for the February 2024 vacations, giving visitors of all ages the opportunity to explore the history and culture of this iconic site. And for the best deal, note that for young EU citizens under 26, admission to the château is free. However, you will have to pay for specific workshops and guided tours.

  • Fontainebleau, portraits d'un château " exhibition (until March 25):

    The Château de Fontainebleau is organizing a unique exhibition featuring 250 graphic works such as drawings, watercolors, gouaches and prints, all from its own collections. The exhibition will be enhanced by two large-scale historical models of the château, and will focus on the evolution of its architecture, decorations and gardens through the centuries. This collection will represent a detailed artistic portrait of this royal residence.

  • Les Grands Bâtisseurs" workshop (February 11 - March 2, 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.):
    This workshop offers an opportunity for children and adults alike to learn about the different phases of castle construction through a Lego model. Relive history together with these emblematic bricks.

  • Napoléon III et Eugénie au château "tour (until March 25):
    The Château de Fontainebleau is commemorating the 150th anniversary of the death of Napoléon III with a tour of the Second Empire period.It's an opportunity to make new discoveries, notably through an exhibition of period costumes.

  • Family visit "D'Artagnan" (February 10 - 25):
    Immerse yourself in the history of Louis XIII and the intrigues of his court, as you explore the château in the footsteps of the most famous of musketeers. Join the Cadets de la Garde as they follow the adventures of the courtier and the musketeer through the various rooms, and discover courtly life: military salutes, the curtsy... Thwart a plot alongside d'Artagnan and witness the final duel in the heart of the Cour Ovale.

    Duration: 1 hour, for all, children aged 6 and over.

  • The château is open every day except Tuesday
  • 9.30 a.m. to 5 p.m. (last admission at 4.15 p.m.).
  • The park and gardens are open free of charge.
  • The restaurant is open for lunch every day, but exceptionally closed on Tuesdays until the end of March, excluding zone C school vacations.
