Situated along the Orge river in theEssonne département, Dourdan is a pretty medieval town, easily recognized by its castle, which still boasts its ramparts, keep and moat in excellent condition.
Extend the walk by a few minutes and you'll arrive at the Parc Lejars-Rouillon, a bucolic spot where you can enjoy nature in a city where the forest is already very close to the center. With its semi-forested paths, children's playground and tall chestnut trees, there's no doubt that this little park is the perfect spot for a short stroll, with or without children. The park is also home to one of the city's libraries, beautifully named Le Grimoire.
The highlight of the show, however, is the 800 m2 of flower beds, which come alive with a thousand and one colors as soon as spring returns. The park also boasts a number of beehives, from which honey is harvested every year (around 120 kg per year!), as well as an arboretum. The Lejars-Rouillon park is named after Mr. Lejars and Mrs. Rouillon, its former owners.
The park is accessible to people with reduced mobility and strollers, and is open every day, all year round. A lovely park to discover if you're planning a getaway or, better still, a weekend in Dourdan. We wish you a pleasant stroll!
