Méréville, in Essonne, France, hosts the 8th Salon de la Gastronomie from September 27 to 29, 2024, an unmissable, free event for local food lovers. Under the 16th-century covered market, producers and artisans come together to share their know-how, in a festive atmosphere culminating in a fireworks display on Saturday, September 28.

The Salon de la Gastronomie de Méréville, a true showcase for Sites Remarquables du Goût, is the perfect opportunity to discover exceptional local products. For three days, you can stroll among the stalls and discover some thirty producers from all over France. Among them, artisans from Essonne and, above all, the famous Méréville watercress, renowned for its unique gustatory qualities. This local star will be honored throughout the event with tastings, demonstrations and culinary competitions, under the guidance of top chefs.

The market, which is free and open to all, offers an immersive experience in the world of French gastronomy, where each producer with the Site Remarquable du Goût label shares exceptional products synonymous with authenticity. Renowned cress grower Olivier Barberot and Michelin-starred chef Gérard Sallé will be leading culinary demonstrations, unveiling original recipes based on watercress, the region's emblematic vegetable. Through these live cooking sessions, visitors will have the chance to discover innovative ways of sublimating this product.

The show program is packed with events. Cooking competitions, tastings and lectures on France's gastronomic heritage will punctuate the three days. You can also take part in culinary workshops and guided tours of the surrounding watercress fields by minibus, to better understand the specific characteristics of this exceptional product. On-site catering, based on local produce, is available to prolong the discovery of local flavours.

On Saturday September 28, the festivities continue with a concert by Duo 2 Choc at 8 p.m., followed at 10:30 p.m. by a fireworks display in the grounds of the Château de Méréville, a magical moment to round off the day in style. Prior to this, a tombola will enable the luckiest visitors to win baskets filled with the best products from the show.

The Salon de la Gastronomie de Méréville is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate local produce while enjoying a historic setting and friendly entertainment.
