Originally a poultry, sheep and cattle show, the Foire Saint-Matthieu has been around for almost a thousand years, celebrating its 954th anniversary this year! An event linked to the medieval past of the Yvelines town of Houdan, which still boasts a fine heritage with its historic keep, old inns and ramparts. A not-to-be-missed event, the fair is now appreciated for its entertainment, with a village of craftsmen, a funfair and a fireworks display, from September 27 to 29, 2024.

Numerous associations and artisans from across the département come to sell their products and showcase their skills, while local merchants display their wares in front of their stores. Of course, street artists will be on hand in the town center to liven up the weekend around the theme of the Middle Ages, with this year's trouvères singing in period costume, accompanied by ancient instruments, as well as a circus show from the 30s and even falconry!
The Cercle d'Escrime Ancienne de Marly-le-Roi (Ancient Fencing Circle of Marly-le-Roi) will also be putting on a show of adventure for all ages, combining drama, stunts and combat. Meanwhile, the funfair will be open to young and old to enjoy some thrills, with a fireworks display on Friday evening at 10 p.m.!
