Jardin des Traverses: a space for relaxation and urban agriculture on the Little Belt

The Petite Ceinture continues to come back to life with the arrival of the Jardin des Traverses, a space open to all, combining an educational greenhouse, a market garden, a community bar and a cultural stage!
For some years now, the abandoned wastelands of the Petite Ceinture have been coming back to life, thanks to calls for projects that bring a little greenery back to the outskirts of the capital, with places that are festive and accessible to all, but with a strong emphasis on ecology and the environment. Inaugurated at the end of September 2024 in the 18th arrondissement, between Porte de Clignancourt and Rue des Poissonniers, the Jardin des Traverses is multi-tasking, dedicated both tourban agriculture and to living together.

Covering 7,500 m2, this area of biodiversity has been reclaimed by nature and transformed into a garden as part of the third season of the Parisculteurs call for projects, by three associations: Vergers Urbains, Fédération Léo-Lagrange and Green Resistance. Using recycled materials, this portion of the former railroad line is now home to vegetable gardens, production activities and awareness-raising workshops, as well as a space for relaxation, with an association bar and art stage.

The Jardin des Traverses is first and foremost an urban agriculture project, with a free green space and market garden, where local residents are invited to participate in the cultivation of the crops, and can recuperate part of the production! The educational greenhouse supplies the restaurant and runs workshops with schoolchildren, while the 800 m-long market garden promenade offers a pleasant stroll.

Les Jardins des Traverses is also a lively place, with a bar where you can enjoy tapped beers, natural wines and juices, as well as fine cuisine prepared by chefs at weekends and during special events. Musicians, artists and dancers are on hand all year round for concerts, exhibitions and festivals of all kinds.
