This summer, the emblematic Ferris Wheel on Place de la Concorde disappeared from the landscape, having been temporarily relocated for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Sent to the Porte de la Muette, it wasn't a great success, but from this Friday, October 18, 2024, it's back for good in the superb Jardin des Tuileries, a more than central location for admiring the beauties of the capital from 60m above!
It's about time it came back, since the famous Tuileries Christmas Market is about to return, and what would it be without its flagship tourist attraction? This time, the wheel is set to run until early 2025, and could well become a permanent fixture, according to the company Grandes Roues de France, headed by René Bufkens, to Le Parisien. In the future, he would like to see tourists and lifelong Parisians alike able to enjoy it year-round, as it is"a historic feature of Paris, on a par with the London Eye".
Although it seems to us that the Ferris Wheel has always been there, it was first installed in December 1985, when Marcel Campion brought several rides to the Jardin des Tuileries. A new, sixty-metre-long version was created in 2000, in homage to the original inaugurated at the 1900Universal Exhibition, before a final model, which has undergone many changes and moves.
