Some know it already but Swedish eat the famous Smörgås (to be pronounced smoergaws). This open sandwich is covered in multiple fresh ingredients and to be enjoyed all day long, accompanied by a large “filter” coffee.
Paris-based Swedish chef Per Svante Forstorp got inspired by a menu focused on Smörgås. Since the early 2017, it’s the young French chef Jean Stern who is at the helm of the Café alongside Isabel.
Coming straight from the French gastronomy school Ferrandi, Jean keeps on promoting the Swedish open-faced sandwich. For example, let yourself go for the salmon and crème fraiche Smörgås or the avocado Smörgås. Other may opt for the toast topped with feta or the warm Smörgås with organic sourdough bread (coming from the Aux Péchés Normand bakery) with a tomato-sauce based, enhanced with browned and slightly caramelized onions, covering grated cheese and three pieces of goat’s cheese.
Cold or warm, these Smörgås can accompany soups and/or homemade salads based on fresh organic and seasonal products. For the regulars, please note that recipes change every Thursday. And there’s something for everyone: vegan, vegetarian, omnivores…
To satisfy all kinds of hungers, Café Smörgås came up with varied set menus:
Please note that beverages are included in all menus: apple juice, fresh juice, tea, herbal tea or even coffee. Speaking of coffee, the filtered coffee is roasted in Paris by Belleville Brûlerie.
For early birds, the café has a breakfast offer available until 11 a.m. with sweet toasts, fresh juices, the famous granola or the irresistible cinnamon bun, the Kanelbulle.
In other words, you’ve understood it, if you love homemade, healthy, organic and succulent cuisine above anything else, head to Café Smörgås, perfect for lunch, the whole in a friendly atmosphere.
