Remember, it was a few months ago… Spanish artist Okuda San Miguel signed on the wall of a building in the community garden of the “Tour au Jardin”, in Paris 13th arrondissement, a monumental work in tribute to Paris. The latter represented one of the symbols kept at the Louvre, Mona Lisa, in a colorful way and on the request of Paris city hall. This time, it’s on Hôtel Palais de Chaillot he gets started by renovating the Paris 16th arrondissement-set establishment lobby his own way.
An in situ mural still as colorful, geometric and graphic is offered by the artist, breaking with the “establishment’s classic style”: “I came up and created a unique work for the Hotel by drawing inspiration from the Trocadero, the Eiffel Tower and the Mona Lisa touristic area, in line with the process of interpreting classic works in a very contemporary style” Okuda explains. A multicolor representing an Eiffel Tower, the Mona Lisa and the roofs of several buildings for a very modern Parisian universe.
A new “dynamic and friendly” area thought up by By Night Gallery, Ink and Mouvement and architect Agathe Raguit. The latter brings some precision to her work with the Spanish artist: “Architecture and furniture highlight Okuda’s mural, thanks to contrast effects and putting in perspective” she explains. And in conclusion: “the choice of shapes, materials and colors allow to mark the hotel visual identity by creating optical illusions to give depth to spaces”. The opportunity to clients and other art lovers to linger on this crossing point.
