RadioEat: Maison de la Radio perched restaurant

Located on the first floor of the Maison de la Radio, this restaurant, created by Eric Wepler from Tokyo Eat and Quai Ouest, welcomes you in a modern décor, in line with the codes of the place. On the menu, a modern cuisine inspired by French and Asian traditions. The whole with a lovely view over the Iron Lady!

Perhaps, going in a restaurant by the Seine, in the heart of the Maison de la Radio, in a quiet area of Paris 16th arrondissement, isn’t the first idea you have.
But, once you passed through security, it becomes unusual and rather funny to find yourself in this institution.
Head to the first floor to discover the RadioEat restaurant.

The initiator of the project, Eric Wepler, who know how to manage wide and pleasant living places. As a matter of facts, he already created Quai Ouest in Saint-Cloud, Tokyo Eat at the Palais de Tokyo and Le Grand Central at Cent-Quatre.
No need to say that he wasn’t afraid to take up the challenge being giving a new breath of life to this closed area in the Maison de la Radio – where we don’t necessarily think about when we want to go out and grab a bite. On the contrary!
To do so, he called out architect Stéphane Maupin who managed to adapt the space and the place particular geometry.
You’re likely to be impressed by the 30-m long bench seat that gives structure to the place and the wide glass windows offering an unobstructed view over the Eiffel Tower! We completely are in line with the Maison de la Radio’s seventies spirit.

In terms of cuisine, it’s chef Thierry Bassard who imagined the menu with dishes from modern brasserie featuring European and Asian twists.
The chef, who comes from Jura, enjoys working with good products thoroughly selected. Meat comes from Yves-Marie Le Bourdonnec, cheese comes from Eric Lefèbre, ice-creams from Philippe Faur… The chef offers a homemade cuisine and the seasoning is just flawless!

As a starter, you have the beetroot and chickpea hummus, mango vinaigrette and crispy dips (€8), the Genuine burrata, candied leeks, extra organic olive oil (€15) to die for, or the artichoke carpaccio, seasoning vinaigrette, ricotta and shizo (€15).
Let’s continue with the delicious Gravlax salmon, herbs salad, lemon condiment and potatoes (€20), the veal shank cooked for 24 hours, spicy salt, old-fashion mashed potatoes (€24) perfectly cooked, or the Caramel chicken, pineapple condiment, cashew nuts and Basmati rice (€18) to name a few…

To end the meal on a sweet note, we went for the Pearls from Japan and coconut milk, chocolate-hazelnut kapla (€6), perfect to end with something sweet but not too sweet. You can also have a go to the Lemon cheesecake, mango ice cream and passion fruit (€12) or Les Trois soeurs (un peu tartes mais super bonnes) (an assortment of three tarts): lemon, chocolate and coffee (€9).

The menu is excellent, and the card doesn’t lack humor for example: “Soup of the day, if the chef is inspired” or “Dogs are not allowed with the Maison de la Radio, rumor has it they don’t have a musical ear”.
You can also order the lunch set-menu served from Monday to Friday with starter (€7), main course (€14) and dessert (€6).
Wines are offered by the bottle and many by the glass, which is considerable. Nice list of organic wines.

We advise you to try this restaurant lost in the middle of nowhere, but, once you passed the austere aspect of the entrance, it offers a delighting setting and a breathtaking view.
And most of all, we loved the cuisine. Everything is flawless, from the cooking to the seasoning. We stuffed our faces!
In terms of prices, they remain fair in view of the place and the quality of the cuisine.
