Set in the heart of Paris 18th arrondissement, La Cantine du 18 is a living place where children and adults can meet to have a good time together. A bit like in Spanish bars, where we meet to share and nibble on tapas.
Well well well… Actually, La Cantine du 18 has just opened a brand-new tapas bar in the restaurant basement. An entirely rethought-up area made out of steel, wood and plants. With its marble tables and rattan chairs, the place is really charming.
Here, tapas are to be enjoyed French way: zucchini cream, hanger steak, chimichurri sauce; gravlax salmon and guacamole; cured ham, pickles… Delicious and colorful tapas prepared before your eyes by the very chef. Products are fresh, in line with the season and bought by La Cantine du 18 in short circuit at local shopkeepers’. An inventive AND ecofriendly cuisine!
La Cantine du 18 is even eco-friendlier since we owe its creation to the association Les Frigos Solidaires [Solidarity Fridges], celebrating its first anniversary. To fight against food wastage and help people in need, the principle is simple: you only have to drop food in the Frigos Solidaires (in the streets), and people in need will come and grab the food for free. A great idea already applied a bit everywhere across France!
In addition to this honorable tapas bar, La Cantine du 18 kills two birds in one stone and reveals its new cocktail bar where you can enjoy inventive creation with or without alcohol.
It’s definitely the feel-good restaurant for the summer 2018!
Please note that it's been over 4 years since our last visit, so the place and experience may have changed.
