In summer like in winter, hotel The Hoxton Paris makes no exception to the rule and welcomes curious people, regulars, hotel guests and foodies on their wonderful and big plant-filled terrace, far from the hustle and bustle of rue du Sentier.
To top it all, this summer 2021, Rivié – The Hoxton Paris restaurant – unveils a healthy and colorful menu, perfect to pair sunny days and get your share of good vitamins.
Al fresco or in the sun, it is up to you. But seat on the comfortable design chairs and browse the short lunch menu: 5 starters, 5 main courses and 5 desserts to choose. Given the season’s novelties, the chef sticks to his initial project and skillfully adds Asian touches in most of his dishes.
Because we are in summer, we first fall for two fresh starters: on one side, a delicious Thai salad (€11) as herbaceous as the traditional Lebanese tabouleh including Thai style roast chicken, lots of chopped mint and cilantro, cucumber, ginger, and lime to give a good dash of peps to the dish. We love it.
On the other side, we went for the Viet-style beef carpaccio (€14) based on Uruguay beef, sliced as thin as lace, crunchy and sour black radish, peanuts, ginger and pickles. A dish found a bit everywhere for many years, but we must say this carpaccio is super fresh and spruced up with a delicious dressing.
While we wait for our main courses, we allow ourselves two refreshing cocktails (yes, at lunch) with vacation-evocative names: the Parfum de Provence (St-Germain liquor, Fino sherry, Prosecco and orange blossom; €15) and the Pretty in Pink (Gin Bombay, Cherry Heering, vanilla syrup, lemon, egg white; €15). We are ready for the rest of the meal!
And it is served! On our table, grilled eggplant marinated in miso (€20) – we would have loved to be more frankly seasoned – served with crunchy sweet potato fries and very fleshy barbecue sauce-marinated pork ribs (€24) – and some high-quality meat – and their baby potatoes heartily covered in rosemary and scallions. Very indulging and it inspired us a pun: ribs don’t lie!
Knowing the quality of desserts served at Rivié, it was unthinkable to leave the place without falling for one (or two!) desserts. Alright, we had the original turmeric and star anise crème brulée with coconut cream and ginger (€10), and a very indulging dessert: roasted peaches with black sesame ice cream, peanut crumble and maple syrup (€9). We leave The Hoxton Paris, full and happy, as usual!
