In the heart of the fashion capital, under the majestic dome of Galeries Lafayette, blossoms a new gourmet and trendy address: The Wine Gate. Much more than a simple wine bar, this dining cellar offers a true sensory experience, where the finesse of flavors blends with oenological discoveries.
In this uncluttered setting, nestled on the second floor of the Magasin Mode Femme, wine lovers are invited to sample by the glass a fine selection of over 100 grands crus from around the world. The perfect symbiosis of wine and gastronomy is orchestrated by Chef Tom Vickers, who offers modern cuisine with Western and Eastern influences.
To start us off, the sommelier suggested a good white to sublimate the flavors of our sea bream sashimi, set with caviar and white tea jelly. A sweet, fresh dish that also prepared our taste buds for the gourmet lobster rolls with Japanese mayonnaise. Delicious! Then, to underline the character of our wagyu beef tataki, he served us a deliciously fruity and round red. The only snag of the evening: the weather... Caught up in our animated conversations and admiring the beauty of the mythical dome that literally enveloped us, we forgot the time and had to skip dessert. It's a pity, as we would have been tempted by the pavlova with fresh mango or the crème brûlée revisited. The restaurant, like the store, closes at 8:30 p.m., so plan ahead!
For breakfast, a champagne brunch, an exquisite lunch or a relaxed afterwork, The Wine Gate transforms every moment of the day into a gourmet adventure. Hubert Cruse and Luc Bajot, the founders of The Wine Gate, have designed an exceptional menu, where the prestigious crus of Burgundy compete with the iconic wines of Bordeaux. A veritable wine odyssey where each wine, from New Zealand discoveries to Loire Valley treasures, becomes an invitation to travel.
But that's not all! In this chic yet relaxed universe, The Wine Gate offers an innovative concept, combining tradition and technology. Each glass is adorned with a QR code, opening the virtual door to a world ofdetailed information: estate, vineyard, vintage..., through tasting notes, photos, videos and even augmented reality tours. The perfect opportunity to discover all the secrets of wine!
And to top it all off, you can take home your very own bottle of wine, bought on site!
The Wine Gate adventure doesn't stop at La Coupole. The brand is preparing to extend its chic to Bangkok, with an exclusive rooftop, before conquering travelers from all over the world at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport.
