Where can you dance for free outdoors this summer in Paris?

Ahhh summer, with its guinguettes, sunshine, vacation atmosphere and late-night dance parties on the quays, at Bastille or at the BNF... Whether you're a dancefloor aficionado or an amateur, here are the free open-air dance evenings in Paris this week!

As soon as the spring heat sets in, amateur dancers gather at various venues around the capital to dance the night away to salsa, tango, rock, swing... Free and open to all, whatever your level of dance, these are the summer evenings we like to attend every summer, if only to savor the long sunny days.

Are you a Latin dancer? Cuban or Puerto Rican salsa, bachata, cumbia, tango or even kizomba are on offer in the open air, with many free classes followed by evenings until 11pm, midnight or later. Don't panic if you're a complete beginner, or if you've never taken a salsa class before: there are classes for all levels, and most evenings are opened by beginners.

Whether you'd like to discover a new discipline or, on the contrary, perfect your skills in a couple dance you're particularly fond of, you're bound to find a class to suit your needs. The same goes for other dances: rock, swing... And don't forget that free dance classes are part of the program at some of the capital's major summer events, including Paris Plages 2023 , which organizes them every week on the banks of the Bassin de la Villette in the 19th arrondissement.

Connoisseurs of open-air dance evenings regularly meet up several times a week on the square in front of the Bibliothèque François Mitterrand, perfect for practicing the passes you've learned to music. More Parisian, many amateurs gather at Place de la Bastille, often on Tuesdays, to share a dance class or, very popular (almost too much so, you might be limited in your movements for lack of space given the large number of dancers), the quays of the Seine are a must for an open-air dance party. The most popular venue is the Jardin Tino Rossi, a stone's throw from the Museum of Natural History and opposite the Île de la Cité, for a bucolic evening of dancing until the sun goes down.

With friends, lovers or solo, there's no shortage of dance evenings in Paris this summer: free of charge (in some cases, only the class costs between €5 and €7), they're an opportunity to learn a new dance style and discover new steps while spending the evening outdoors!
