Sunday is family day and one of the rare moment of the week we put work aside and we enjoy the present moment with our spouse.
In order to avoid choosing between your kids and your better half, Vins des Pyrénées offers you to spend a lovely moment in a warm atmosphere with a delicious cuisine cooked on the spot and based on fresh products! A feast for the eyes and the taste buds!
In the meantime, your kids have fun upstairs with Yvette, a true Mary Poppins, a passionate woman who offers them a whole bunch of activities suited to their age!
Here, no tablet nor screens, just a rocking animation team that takes into account each kid’s particularity and offers them activities to their likings!
Salt dough, playdough, doll’s tea set, puzzle, small cars, Duplo®, board games, reading corner… everything is here to have your children spend a great moment (without a screen) and they really have fun!
While parents take the time to enjoy a delicious meal in an ultra-friendly and warm atmosphere where we feel like at home, service in addition, kids are – as soon as they arrive – introduced to Yvette, a peerless organizer!
At first sight, some kids might feel confused facing this bunch of retro games available, but, the team is here to make them feel at ease!
When we arrived, kids (5 and 7 years old) were sticking to me like glue and they’ve warned me: “don’t even think were gonna play in a room without you!”
You can’t imagine how surprised I’ve been when, just a few minutes later only, I came downstairs, on my own, to join my husband and order food!
Kids stayed upstairs until a waiter told them their meal was ready!
First look at the house’s menu and it’s a good surprise, the menu is just the front of a A4 sheet of paper and offers guests to choose among a selection of 8 starters, 6 main courses and 6 desserts, which is a very good sign to me! A few products but fresh and quality ingredients!
For children, it’s simple, their menu has nuggets and fries and a slice of chocolate brownie! Even though we may reproach the restaurant for a lack of vegetables in the plate, it’s been a long time since I’ve eaten such tasty fries!
During our second visit, kids have had some carrots in their plate.
As for us, adults, we went for an oyster each, yes, here oysters are sold by the piece! Then, my husband ordered the mackerel rillettes and toasted bread while I chose the herring with apple and oil, and we also shared a plate of farm Gouda cheese Chiffonnade and black truffles!
As a main course, my husband ate a pollack fillet with celeriac, olives, pine nuts and lime zabaglione and as for me, I discovered the incredible stuffed squid, piquillo peppers, chorizo & candied fennel! What a delight! A subtle blend of spices for a true explosion in the mouth!
Moving on to desserts, I let myself be tempted by a delicious cottage cheese and lavender honey, while my husband (who usually isn’t a chocolate eater), finished the rest of the kids’ brownie, kids who were already back upstairs to play more!
Since my kids didn’t want to leave the place, we stayed until the end, at 5 p.m., when animations ended, and we could leave on one condition, the promise to come back next Sunday!
The watchword of the place: we take the time to relax and to enjoy a good lunch!
Think about asking if Yvette is there when you book. It happens that she's away on some weekends especially during school breaks.
Please note that it's been over 4 years since our last visit, so the place and experience may have changed.
