For the past 15 years, the Musée du Quai Branly has been supporting theUnited Nations Refugee Agency and Aviation Sans Frontières with its"Another Christmas" initiative. The Parisian museum 's idea is to raise children's awareness of solidarity, exchange and dialogue between cultures, by offering them the chance to give a toy or stuffed animal to a refugee child.
This year's theme, color, promises an immersive and joyful experience for all. The toys collected will be distributed by the Aurore association, a loyal partner of the museum. This collaboration illustrates a true synergy between culture and social action.
The program in the foyer of the Claude Lévi-Strauss theater is particularly rich. From 2pm to 6pm, families can take part in creative and educational workshops. Among them, "Ça tourne!", a toy-building workshop inspired by Greenland's Kavicia spinning tops, will captivate children aged 3 to 5. It's a playful introduction to color mixing.
The"Wax fantasque" workshop invites children over 6 to explore African textiles such as wax and batik, creating their own colorful works. For children aged 9 and over, "La fabrique des couleurs" offers a fascinating discovery of natural dyes and the shibori technique with Studio Whole.
The"Mi bella flor" workshop is inspired by the Mexican tradition of La Fiesta de la Flor de Xochimilco. Here, participants aged 6 and over create paper flowers, adding a cheerful touch to the environment.
Storytelling, shared by the museum's storytellers, awakens the imaginations of young visitors (3-5 years), guiding them into a world of colors and legends. There's also a continuous reading and relaxation area, with books, coloring areas and building blocks for the youngest visitors.
The day also comes alive with a ball and initiations to Afro-Caribbean dance led by choreographer Chantal Loïal and the Compagnie Difé Kako. These activities offer a joyful opportunity to discover new cultures through dance.
For those with a sweet tooth, the catering area offers"Mon cookie à colorier" and"La couleur du Cacao". Families can decorate and enjoy cookies with edible markers, and savor handcrafted hot chocolates courtesy of Ara Chocolat.
The Collections plateau is not to be outdone, with "In Search of Color" mini-tours to explore the collections from a new angle. These tours, adapted for children aged 6 and over, promise an enriching journey through culture and history.
Since 2006, "Un Autre Noël" has collected over 553 boxes of toys, demonstrating the museum's commitment to important social causes. This year's event takes on a special dimension, combining cultural awareness with a spirit of generosity.
In short, it's a great opportunity to sort through your children's toys and dolls - with their permission, of course!
