Pitaya is the brand that has set out to introduce Parisians to Thai street-food, already well established in France with 25 outlets.
On the menu are authentic, creative recipes featuring fresh, healthy products. Simply put, Bangkok street food revisited and adapted to Western palates.
The coolest thing is that, with its open kitchen, you're greeted as soon as you walk in the door by the delicious smells emanating from the woks. And then, what could be cooler than to see these delicious dishes being prepared before our very eyes? In fact, the cooks do a great job of staging these preparations, and the large flames above the ovens are quite impressive!
Because here, tasty woks are cooked by the minute, and 13 recipes, created by Chef Nathalie Nguyen, are available à la carte. Pad Thaï (11.50€), Bo Bun (10.50€), Loc Lac (11.50€)... a profusion of sweet and savory flavors, spices and gourmet delights. A real invitation to travel.
For our part, we tried the Nua Kao (11.50€), Thai rice with minced beef, plump shrimps crispy on the outside, wok-fried crunchy vegetables and fried onions; and the Sie Yai (11€), udon wheat noodles with minced beef, crunchy vegetables, snipped Thai chives and fried onions.
We loved the crunchiness of the finely grated carrots, the tender, perfectly wok-cooked meat, the slightly sweet flavors and, above all, the super-generous portions (we even left with a doggy bag!).
The desserts are also pleasant surprises: the Bounty-style chocolate and coconut mousse (4€) is very gourmet, while the kalamansi mousse on pure butter shortbread (4€) is surprisingly fresh and light!
Please note that it's been over 4 years since our last visit, so the place and experience may have changed.
