La Table du Château, located opposite the beautiful Château de Dampierre in the Yvelines region of France, which is constantly undergoing renovation as it gradually reveals its new splendor, offers seasonal cuisine by chef Élisabeth Passédat. Since May 2023, this address has combined terroir and modernity in a bucolic and historic setting.
Renamed La Table du Château, this former Michelin-starred restaurant, formerly known as La Table des Blot, has reopened its doors under the impetus of young chef Élisabeth Passédat. After a decade spent working in London's Michelin-starred kitchens alongside such greats as Hélène Darroze and Pierre Koffmann, she now brings her savoir-faire to this timelessly charming venue. With her husband, she has transformed this address into a warm, country-house gastronomic stopover, celebrating local produce and French culinary traditions.
Located at 1 Grande Rue, in Dampierre-en-Yvelines, right next to the Jardin Sucré tea room and chocolate factory, this restaurant nestles in a historic building dating back to the XVIIᵉ century. It's a central and emblematic location in the village. It has to be said that, over the centuries, this house has seen a number of different functions and evolutions. Formerly linked to the château's activities, it was part of the lively life of this commune marked by the history of the great noble families. Its proximity to the château, built between 1675 and 1683 for the Duc de Chevreuse by Jules Hardouin-Mansart, gave it a central role in village life.
The Grande Rue, where this address is located, was the commune's main thoroughfare, frequented by villagers and visitors alike. At a time when Dampierre was a stopover point for travelers between Paris and Chartres, this building served as a relay before becoming a renowned restaurant.
The restaurant seats around 30. The room is large and the tables are widely spaced. Suffice to say, there's no need to step on each other's toes. After a lovely stroll through the Vallée de Chevreuse or a visit to the Domaine de Dampierre, you're ready to settle down at the table.
During our visit to the Auberge, we discovered a menu rich in flavor, perfectly executed. For starters, the Label Rouge salmon fillet marinated in maple syrup, egg yolk and shoyuya seduced us with its delicate balance of sweetness and saltiness, while the Ravioles de champignons de Paris et Morbier, accompanied by a yellow wine emulsion, had everything we needed for a good dose of comfort.
For the main courses, we opted for the Label Rouge Charolais beef fillet, accompanied by a warm foie gras and Madeira sauce, a wonderful discovery. Pan-seared scallops, enhanced with a sweet-spice sauce and Normandy crème fraîche, play on subtle, refined pairings. We were surprised by the beautifully presented plates and the generosity of the dishes.
Finally, the desserts don't disappoint: the Apple and Pear Soufflé with Armagnac ice cream melts in your mouth! It's a real cloud of flavor. The Mousse et moelleux au chocolat Virunga 70%, enriched with lentins des chênes caramel and tonka bean ice cream, offers an intense and daring finale, perfect to end this trip to the Yvelines.
If you'd like to seduce your other half in an elegant, even romantic setting, this is a charming address. What's more, with its 15 rooms, you can take advantage of a weekend getaway, as the village of Dampierre and the surrounding area offer plenty to discover.
This ambitious project, backed by businessman Franky Mulliez, owner of Domaine de Dampierre, is part of a global vision for the site. The aim? To make this inn a welcoming space for visitors to the estate, combining gastronomy, nature and history. Decorated around the themes of the château, the garden and the forest, these rooms offer an immersive and harmonious experience.
The ambiance of La Table du Château reflects the soul of the place: a subtle blend of modernity and respect for tradition. Every detail, from the soothing, natural colors of the rooms to the elegantly laid plates, contributes to creating a unique experience.
For food lovers in search of a fine culinary discovery near Paris, this Yvelines restaurant is a must. Whether you're looking for a romantic lunch or a memorable evening out, La Table du Château is a great place to discover.
