A festive air in Créteil... As part of the July 14 festivities, the town of Créteil, in the Val-de-Marne region of France, is organizing its now-famous firemen's ball, this Saturday, July 13, 2024, celebrating in fitting style and as it does every year, the Fête nationale. Starting at 9pm, music and dance enthusiasts will gather at the Créteil fire brigade center, located on rue de l'Orme Saint-Siméon, to dance the night away!

On the program for the Fête Nationale 2024 in Créteil:

  • Firemen's ball: from 9pm
  • DJ and dancers
  • Karaoke entertainment
  • Food stalls

The firemen's ball, a true tradition of the Fête nationale, originated in Montmartre in 1937. On their way back from the military parade, the Butte firefighters invited passers-by who were following them to visit their fire station, after obtaining permission from their superiors. An unqualified success, it spread to other fire stations in the capital, and then across the country. But before it became the firemen's ball that it is today, the event featured sports activities and other physical exercises, until the visitors started dancing and drinking.

Today, we're still drinking (in moderation) and dancing. And as for the Créteil ball, like many other fire departments' balls, this one is free, but a"tonneau" is available so that you can donate a little something to help them maintain the fire station... or other expenses.

And who knows, maybe you'll meet a young single fireman or firewoman (yes, the word does exist)? Whatever the case, join us in Créteil on July 13, 2024 for a great party! Shall we go, folks?
