July 14 promises to be a special day for Parisians. This Sunday, the Olympic flame arrives in the capital with two days of relays, including a vigil in the Salle Saint-Jean at the Hôtel de Ville.
But this July 14, we also commemorate the storming of the Bastille and the Fête Nationale with a series of events: firemen's balls, a free symphony concert, a garden party, fireworks and a military parade.
Usually held on the Avenue des Champs-Élysées, the traditional military parade has been moved to the Avenue Foch this year, due to the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

" The organization of this ceremony means that temporary traffic and parking measures must be taken, both to prepare for it and to ensure that it runs smoothly," explains the Préfecture de police in a press release, which also announces " measures prohibiting the parking of all vehicles between July 7 (limited to avenue Bugeaud) and 2pm on July 14 in certain streets " located in the 8th, 16th and 17th arrondissements of Paris.
All vehicle traffic is also banned " between July 8 and 2pm on July 14 " on several roads in the same three arrondissements of the capital.
Finally, the Préfecture de police de Paris is putting in place a security and traffic control system to protect participants, and has set up a protection perimeter " within which access and movement of people are regulated ".
Within this delimited perimeter, people wishing to enter via the pre-filtering and filtering points are required to " submit to visual baggage inspection and search, as well as security palpation ".
