We're off to the Parvis de l'Hôtel de Ville in the run-up to Christmas to discover a pretty, lively village. Once again this year, the City of Paris lights up and presents its pretty Christmas village, with a real Christmas market and free rides from Tuesday, November 28 to Sunday, December 31, 2023.
This year, the village is decked out in the colors of the Olympic and Paralympic Games , in the run-up to the world's most famous sporting event, less than 300 days away. For this special occasion, in preparation for the Olympic year, the City of Paris has created an enchanted world, with a magical forest installed in front of the Hôtel de Ville.
The façade of the latter now shines with the colors of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Revealed on November 28 in the presence of Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo, International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach, International Paralympic Committee President Andrew Parsons, and Paris 2024 President Tony Estanguet.
In keeping with the City of Paris' energy-saving policies, the lights in the village will go out at 11:45pm each evening. These illuminations use low-energy LED technologies.
As every year, this magical village brings even more magic to the festive season. Here's to the glittering forest of fir trees and free rides for children. Pretty decorations, sporting events including tobogganing, climbing and wooden horse riding, chalets selling Parisian products and plenty of mulled wine and pretzels- it's a lovely walk to take, whether you're with the family or not.
A few chalets brighten up this pretty village. On offer are gourmet treats, mulled chocolate and wine, and products from artisans with the Fabriqué à Paris label.
The fir trees decorating the forecourt of the Hôtel de Ville are chosen by the City with respect for the environment. They come from the City of Paris horticultural production center (located in Achères, in the Île-de-France region) or from the forests of Morvan, and are from sustainably managed plantations. Some of them are potted and can be reused in the coming years, while the others will end their life in the City's green spaces, as mulch, a highly effective natural protection used in planted beds.
Minimum age 6 years for a child alone and 3 years for a child accompanied by a parent.
For children aged 6 and over and over 1.20 m tall
Several window displays await you in different chalets. Enjoy the decorations and the nativity scene.
All in all, it's a lovely way to experience the magic of Christmas in Paris. And don't forget to check out Vitrines de Noël at BHV , just a stone's throw away.
