Airports are depressed in Paris. A few hours after the United states to suspend arrivals on their soil for a month, France Bleu Paris reveals that the Aéroports de Paris company is currently studying the possibility to close some terminals of the Roissy Charles-de-Gaulle airport set in Val-d'Oise. In France, stage 3 of the epidemic could be reached in the upcoming days.
A decision with far-reaching consequences for the thousands of tourists passing by this hub – one of the biggest in Europe. So, the decision to shut down one of the terminals “should be made by the end of the week” the Aéroports de Paris managing board says to the Île-de-France radio. So far, they say: “nothing is set” and that it’s time to “think” given the important cost caused by such an initiative. For the aerial sector, loss projections go up to 100 billion euros, according to the Observatoire de l’Office du Tourisme de Paris.
In the same time, this Thursday March 12, 2020, European stock markets closed on the biggest decrease since their creations, -12.28% leading to a financial crash in Europe. The European Central Bank announced measures to support the economy and blames president Christine Lagarde for “the slowness and the deference” of the governments facing the virus propagation.
