After assessing the threat by this virus as very high, the World Health Organization (WHO) now considers the epidemic as a pandemic.

Could the coronavirus epidemic be a pandemic? This is what assures World Health Organization Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. A few weeks earlier, the WHO raised coronavirus threat assessment to a “very high” level, its highest level.

Because of how fast the Covid-19 coronavirus spreads worldwide, the WHO invited all countries – included those not yet affected by the world pandemic – to be extra vigilant and be ready for the arrival of the virus on their territories. This Wednesday March 11, 2020 the WHO director-general was deeply concerned by the “alarming levels of inaction” on an international basis.

He also encourages all sectors and people to be involved to fight against Covid-19. “Several countries have been able to suppress and control the outbreak” he said.

In order to suppress the threat, about twenty vaccines are currently being developed around the globe while different treatments are currently being studied in a clinical trial. In France, different measures have been taken to limit the threat.

Health instructions are being shared with the people and the French government has decided to ban gatherings of over 1000 people in a confined space and until further notice. A measure that led to the cancellation and the adjournment of several events in Paris. Museums in Paris are also adapting to the situation to limit contamination risks.
