Set between Palais Galliera and the Trocadero gardens, the Embassy of Mexico is a genuine Art Déco architecture gem in Paris. Built in 1927, this building opens for free on September 17 and 18, 2022, for the 39th European Heritage Days. Come and visit this place usually closed to the public and dive into Mexican culture promoted for the weekend.
The hotel particulier housing the Embassy of Mexico has some very special history. Unlike many of its peers, the Embassy of Mexico was designed and furbished especially to house representatives of Mexico in France. In 1926, the country buys the hotel particulier to Duchess of Luynes. Major renovations are carried out to adapt the residency and give it an Art Déco style whilst paying tribute to Mexico.
This is why there is a Mexican eagle on the façade of the building, in the lounges, and an indoor décor fitting the Ambassador’s taste in the 1920’s, Alberto Pani.
Intrigued by these details? You know what to do: on September 17 and 18, 2022, run to the Embassy of Mexico to visit this oh-so special place in Paris.
