For the Journées du Patrimoine 2024 in Paris, the Russian Orthodox Spiritual and Cultural Center, adjacent to the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, transports us to St. Petersburg on the weekend of September 21 and 22, 2024.

Every year, the Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days ) are an opportunity for enthusiasts and the curious to fill up on cultural goodies through a rich program. The event usually takes place on the third weekend in September, when many cultural sites, establishments and institutions open their doors to reveal their secrets, sometimes in exceptional ways!

Whether you're a fan of history, art, fashion or much more, each edition of the Paris and Île-de-France festival offers a program so vast that everyone can find the event they're most interested in!

In Paris, it's an opportunity to conquer the most emblematic monuments, or to venture out to lesser-known spots. In the capital's 7th arrondissement, as you approach the Pont de l'Alma, you'll see a very special cathedral, at the crossroads of modernity and tradition. Its five gold-covered bulbous steeples attract curious glances, and its architecture echoes both Byzantine and Russian styles.

This is the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, also known as the Russian Orthodox Cathedral. Adjacent to it is the Russian Orthodox Spiritual and Cultural Center, to which the religious edifice is closely linked. For the 40th edition of the Journées du Patrimoine, scheduled for the weekend of September 21 and 22, 2024, we're off to enjoy a special program!

The 2024 Heritage Days program at the Russian Orthodox spiritual and cultural center in Paris

  • Cultural heritage of Krasnoyarsk Krai
    September 21 and 22

For the JEP 2024, several institutions in the Krasnoyarsk Krai have prepared documentaries and guided tours to help you discover different and, at times, surprising aspects of the rich cultural heritage of this vast Siberian region.
The Krasnoyarsk Krai in Siberia is the third largest subdivision in the world and the second largest in Russia (2,366,797 km²).
It is located in the basin of the Yenisei, one of the world's largest rivers. While the southern part of the territory is reminiscent of Central Asian landscapes, with the Minusinsk Depression and the Saian Mountains, the northern half is covered by vast expanses of taiga and tundra.
The first traces of civilization date back to the Upper Paleolithic, and the southern part of the region witnessed the formation of a first state in the 4th century BC. The south then became the periphery of various Central Asian nomadic confederations, while the north remained virtually uninhabited. The Russians conquered Siberia in the 16th century, establishing the towns of Yeniseysk, Atchinsk and Krasnoyarsk in the early 16th century as their first settlements.
The territory's cultural and natural heritage is among the richest in Siberia. There are 435 historical monuments, 1,081 archaeological monuments, 17 art monuments and 473 architectural and urban monuments. The city of Yeniseysk is classified as a historic city, while Krasnoyarsk, Minusinsk, Atchinsk and Kansk have 424 architectural and urban monuments.

    ON THE PROGRAM:
    SCREENINGS

"SIBERIA. FRANCE. HISTORICAL LINKS", a guided tour of the eponymous exhibition organized by the Krasnoyarsk Museum of Local History. The exhibition recounts the long history of relations between France and the province of Yenisei, then the Krasnoyarsk region, through the destinies of Frenchmen who linked their lives to Siberia, and Siberians who glorified their region beyond its borders and, in particular, in France. The exhibition evokes France's role in building and shaping Siberia's culture, and reflects the prospects for developing friendship and cooperation.
" INVERSION", a documentary produced by the Krasnoyarsk-Vassily Surikov State Museum of Fine Arts, consisting of 5 short films on the museum's masterpieces: Surikov's "The Merciful Samaritan", Malevich's "The Lady Playing the Piano", the icon "Archistratigus Michael, the Terrible Leader of the Heavenly Forces", the sculpture "Flight" by D.Namdakov, N.Gadalova's mansion which houses the Museum.
"АВЕНИСЕЕСИНЕВА", presentation of the oldest contemporary art biennial in modern Russia (in existence since 1995, held every 2 years in Krasnoyarsk) through 6 interviews with participating artists of the 2023 edition.
" DOM KINO" (House of Cinema), a documentary telling the story of the oldest cinema in Krasnoyarsk, founded in 1908.

Screenings will take place on September 21 and 22 from 12 noon to 7 p.m. (on a loop) in the Centre's auditroium.

  • Alexandre Golovine, founder of modern decorative theatrical art
    September 21 and 22

Alexandre Golovine (1863 - 1930) was a renowned painter, one of the greatest artists of the early 20th century and founder of modern decorative theatrical art. He was a full member of the Académie des Beaux-Arts. For 15 years, he was Chief Decorator of the Imperial Theatres.
