Every year, the Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days) punctuate the third weekend in September with a fabulous program of visits and events, often free of charge, at some of Europe's finest heritage sites. From cultural sites such as museums and monuments, to arts and crafts, major institutions and government ministries, each edition of this not-to-be-missed event manages to surprise the public, and the program is so extensive that it enables everyone to find ideas for outings to match their passion. This time, the Journées du Patrimoine will be celebrating its 41st edition on the weekend of September 21 and 22, 2024.
Both in Paris and the Île-de-France region, numerous events await you for the occasion. In the capital's 7th arrondissement, you'll find theAcadémie d'agriculture de France. The history of this association goes back a long way! Indeed, theAcadémie d'agriculture de France was founded in 1761.
Originally, it was a royal society dedicated to agronomy, with the aim of developing and modernizing agriculture in France. Some fifteen regional societies were founded by order of King Louis XV, and the Société d'agriculture de la généralité de Paris later became the Académie d'Agriculture en France. The latter, housed in a private mansion, is taking part in this latest edition of the Journées du Patrimoine in Paris.
Visitors can take a guided tour of the Académie d'agriculture to discover its activities and rare documents relating to the origins of agricultural and food products. Quick presentations and interactive games on agriculture, food and transport are also on the program. The 11:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. group is now fully booked. Register between 9.30 and 11.30 a.m.
