The Musée-jardin Albert-Kahn is taking part in the new Journées du Patrimoine, on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 September 2024. Take advantage of this weekend to visit the museum and discover its amazing program!

This is one of the Hauts-de-Seine department's most cherished heritage sites, which you can visit free of charge during the Journées du Patrimoine 2024. The Musée Albert-Kahn and its gardens, housed in the former residence of banker and philanthropist Albert Kahn in Boulogne-Billancourt, welcome us on Saturday September 21 and Sunday September 22, 2024. Built by landscape architect Achille Duchêne on a four-hectare site in Boulogne-Billancourt, the site is an architectural and landscaped gem.

Conceived as a scenic garden, this 4-hectare space features a magnificent Japanese garden and village, an English garden, a French garden and forests and meadows. A complete change of scenery. An opportunity to learn more about the place and Albert Kahn, a colorful character. He founded Les Archives de la Planète, a company responsible for immortalizing the world's jewels in autochrome (the first color photographs). Albert Kahn was also passionate about plants. He therefore wanted to create a garden open to the public, showcasing every garden style in the world. In all, 6 gardens provide an exhaustive presentation of the art of gardening: a French garden, a Japanese garden with its tea pavilion, an English garden, a Vosges forest, a blue forest with its central marsh and a golden forest with its birch trees.

When it went bankrupt in 1932, the residence was seized, but was soon bought by the Prefecture of the Seine, which wished to continue welcoming the public to the gardens. The mansion was then converted into a museum, to display a fine selection of the 72,000 autochromes and thousands of hours of film produced by the ten photographers hired by Albert Kahn.

  • "Fanzine" with Antonio Jimenez-Saiz
    Saturday, September 21, 2:30 p.m.

The Félix project, started ten years ago by Antonio Jiménez Saiz, takes a more offbeat approach, bringing together over four hundred photographs of posters of cats lost in Brussels. This practice is one of the last modes of free, intimate and non-advertising display in public space. Born of the democratization of personal printers, it is now tending to disappear in favor of online advertising and social networks. This singular inventory explores the inevitability of erasure, of the image - these heart-rending cries for help disappear under the effect of bad weather - and of a popular creative practice rendered obsolete by the digitization of the world.
Immerse yourself in the world of Antonio Jimenez Saiz for the duration of a fanzine workshop. Using images from his Félix inventory series, create your own inventory edition of lost cats.
