Paris never stops changing! In a few years, a new district will be built in the 15th arrondissement of the capital. Housing, shops and green spaces are planned for 2022 and 2026, with the project being carried out in two phases.
In total, 440 new homes, 50% of which will be social housing, will be built above the Ateliers Vaugirards. Divided into two buildings, these homes will be sold at a price below the neighborhood average, between €11,500 and €11,900 per square meter.
But beyond the housing, it is a real neighborhood that will be created. Indeed, a new street will be created to connect two dead ends. This street will be home to numerous local businesses, particularly food shops. In addition, residents will be able to make suggestions as to which stores they would like to see located down the street from them!
Finally, it should be noted that the vegetation will be very present in this project: 30% of the surfaces are outside. In addition to the various terraces and hanging gardens, a 700m2 market garden farm will live on the roof of the two buildings.
Behind this major urban project is the RATP. Indeed, the Ile-de-France transport agency sees it as a way of financing the necessary renovation of the Vaugirard workshops, which are used to maintain the trains on line 12. Moreover, RATP says it wants to keep this industrial site, which employs several hundred people, in Paris.
To be continued, we can't wait to see this new district emerge!
