Perhaps you haven't yet heard of the Mona Bismarck American Center. Nestled in a magnificent mansion in the chic 16th arrondissement, opposite the Eiffel Tower, this venue is the showcase of American culture in Paris. Year-round, the American cultural center offers exhibitions, concerts, events and educational programs to showcase the best ofAmerican art in Paris.
Opened in 1983 in tribute to the philanthropic Countess, the center's mission is to provide a venue for Franco-American cross-cultural understanding. A patron of the arts and haute couture, Mona Bismarck 's friends included Cole Porter, Tennessee Williams, Cecil Beaton, Truman Capote, Cristóbal Balenciaga and Hubert de Givenchy.
In 2011, the American Cultural Center was redesigned, focusing exclusively on American art and culture.
After hosting a number of outstanding exhibitions, the Mona Bismarck American Center will be renamed theAmerican Center for Art and Culture on July 4, 2019, Independence Day, to " fully embrace its mission and role as the only American cultural center dedicated to American art and culture in Paris ".
On this national holiday, Patrick Zimmerli is bringing together a pan-American band for a concert not to be missed!
This summer, the cultural center is also planning an incredible musical program to be discovered on the Live@ stage set up in the center's sumptuous garden.
Finally, this autumn, theAmerican Center for Art and Culture will be taking part in events such as the Festival d'automne, FIAC Parades and an evening dedicated to outsider cinema.
