Paris / New York Heritage Festival 2019 invests the capital with a new edition to discover from June 12 to 16. On the program? Concerts, screenings and debates around African, Afro, Latin American and Native Arts.

Johannesburg, Paris, New York, Montreal, Vancouver and Los Angeles. In total, 6 cities around the world will host the Paris / New York Heritage Festival event between June 6 and July 6, 2019.

It's already been four years since the Paris / New York Heritage Festival offers an initiatory, historical and current journey to the heart of African, Afro, Latin American and Native American Arts, making stops in six cities. The event pays tribute to these major arts of the 20th century, which have left their mark on the world's musical culture.

In Paris, head to the Canadian Cultural Center, the FGO Barbara Center and the Mona Bismarck American Center from June 12 to 16 to discover a series of concerts, screenings and debates.

The program in Paris:
June 12, 2019: Screening / Debate - Film "Rumble, The Indians who rocked the World"
Canadian Cultural Center: 130 Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, 75008 Paris

" One of the chapters in the history of American music, as profound as it is essential and yet largely unknown until now: that of the Native influence. Through portraits of musical icons, Rumble shows how these talented Native musicians have helped shape the soundtracks of our lives. "

The film will be followed by a moment of exchange with French and Canadian speakers on the influence of Aboriginal culture on today's music, and more broadly, on the blending of African, Latin and European cultures.

June 13, 2019: Flem + Vieux Farka Touré concert
FGO Barbara : 1 rue Fleury, 75018 Paris

The group "Nomades" was born from a collaboration between French rapper Flem, and Vieux Farka Touré, nicknamed by the American media the Hendrix of the Sahara, son of the legendary Ali Farka Touré. Flem has worked with artists such as Dany Dan of "Les Sages poètes de la rue" and DJ Duke of the band "Assassin."
