If you’re looking for a small corner of heaven this summer 2019 in Paris… Mona Bismarck American Center – soon to be renamed American Center For Art And Culture on July 4 – welcomes you all summer long in its private mansion in Paris 16th arrondissement, and more especially in its hidden garden, a wonderful and green setting safe from the Parisian hustle and bustle.
On the menu? A range of concerts by American artists mixing jazz and funk, to be discovered on the temporary Live@ stage.
Mona Bismarck American Center summer concerts 2019:
Sarah McCoy revisited the traditional jazz in a very personal fashion, to marry it to blues and rock. Her album “Blood Siren” captures her incredible voice, revealing a sound that both chills and touches the heart. The songs she wrote are as intimate and unguarded as diary entries.
Described as a “voodoo artist”, Akua Naru comes to Paris to cast a spell on the audience as a guest with her powerful universe mixing American hip hop and African traditions. Among her favorite themes, Akua Naru tells about her western African roots that mostly guide her work no matter if it’s about music or politics. The rest of the night will be with MC Raashan Ahmad former leader of Crown City Rockers for an explosive set on the occasion of the release of his album “The Sun”.
Then, starting from 10 p.m., be ready to experience the From Paris With Hip-Hop event with international DJs.
That’s a beautiful event you don’t want to miss at the American Center For Art And Culture! Producer and arranger for Kool and the Gang, Earth Wind and Fire, Aretha Franklin, Frank Sinatra, Roberta Flack, Björk and even Christope… Eumir Deodato will be for the first time live on stage with an 8-musician band. On the stage of the Live@, the Maestro and hit Parisian jazz-funk band Cotonete 8tet will meet.
Then, starting from 10 p.m., discover in the lounges of the American Cultural Center DJ Bronco, de Generations – Hip Hop Soul Radio, and even Pascal Rioux from Favorite Recordings.
After welcoming over 3000 people last summer, Free Your Funk is back at the American Center for Art and Culture for three nights outside. On the occasion, brig names of the Dj-ing US will be here at the Center to revisit the best hours of Soul, Funk and Hip Hop. Among them, you’ll have New-York-based Ge-Ology, Rich Medina from Philadelphia and DJ Amir from duo KON & AMIR.
To celebrate American Independence Day as the launch of the American Center for Art and Culture, Patrick Zimmerli gathers a Pan-American band for a concert you don’t want to miss. Created on the occasion by Patrick Zimmerli, this band explores all the music traditions in which the band members are specialized, from jazz to American Songbook, without forgetting Venezuelan folk music, original songs by Zimmerli and traditional U.S. songs worked with new arrangements.
The band includes Patrick Zimmerli – coming from New York and living in Paris – pianist Rob Clearfield – coming from the center of the United States and raised in Chicago. Percussionist Philippe Maniez – born in the French Dijon area but whose mother comes from Cleveland, Ohio – is also part of the band. Finally, drummer Karl Jannuska whose parents are both Americans from Polish origin, and bassist Juan-Sébastien Jimenez – Southern-American born in Venezuela.
Young drummer, singer and winner of the Thelonious Monk award in 2012, Jamison Ross will take over the Live@ stage for an exceptional concert this upcoming July 7. His first album “Jamison” out in 2015 won a GRAMMY® nomination for best vocal jazz album. His second record, “All For One” takes the audience further into Jamison’s ethic which is that “we all have the capacity to love deeper with empathy”.
An American stage in Paris that already sounds super amazing, that’s a great deal!
