After Europe and the United States, it is Russia’s turn to throw itself into the race for a vaccine against coronavirus! Russian health minister Mikhaïl Murashko announced this Wednesday June 17, 2020 they are launching several clinical trials led by the Gamaleya National Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology, on two vaccine prototypes. “The clinical trials of vaccines against Covid-19 started on June 17” the ministry said in a press release.
Two prototypes will be tested on two groups, including 38 people each. After injecting the vaccine, the protocol says that all volunteers who have joined the trial have been isolated, and “Every day, a set of necessary measures is carried out to monitor the main vital indicators of volunteers and study a number of special parameters” the ministry of defense says.
As for the two prototypes of vaccines, the ministry’s release says that one is “liquid”, the other “lyophilized”. As for the composition of these vaccines, no information has been disclosed. Russia joins the United-States, as well as several European countries in the search for a vaccine to wipe out Covid-19. For the record, as of Wednesday June 17, Russia includes over 500,000 cases and 7,400 deaths.
