The fight against racism also takes place on sport fields. This Monday June 29, the INSEP [French National Institute of Sport Expertise, and Performance] has announced they have discovered in the morning racist insults on pictures of athletes from the Rio Olympics hung on the outdoor gates of the facility set in Paris 12th arrondissement.

Tweet reads: “INSEP_Paris harshly condemns racist insults found on pictures of athletes outside the facility. The INSEP embodies France’s diversity: women and men of all origins, who outdo themselves to make [France] win”.
Moreover, as the INSEP press release says, “the public facility that immediately saw this offence, harshly condemns these actions and will file a complaint to the police”. On the three pictures vandalized, we recognize portraits of French sport stars such as multiple time judoka world champion Teddy Riner, and even 110-m hurdle specialist Dimitri Bascou.
Furthermore, INSEP director general Ghani Yalouz reacted to the news. The director and his teams “will not lay low” he says in a press release, and they “will not give ground to hatred, cowardness, and stupidity”. He goes on showing “friendly and unfailing support to people that have been personally attacked”.
