While France is facing an unprecedented health crisis due to the coronavirus epidemic, Sport Minister announces to put some facilities to disposal such as the INSEP (National Institute for Sport and Physical Education) to welcome sick people, homeless people and even medical staff working too far away from their homes.

We’re all united against Covid-19! While France is fighting against the coronavirus pandemic, all fields are required to unite and join the fight. The goal being to help hospitals and unclog the sick people influx, the Minister of Sports announces that the National Institute for Sport and Physical Education, also known as Insep, is about to reopen to welcome sick people. Two weeks after shutting down, installations will now be open to the most vulnerable.

That way, Minister of Sports Roxana Marcineanu plans to requisition the national center set in Paris 12th arrondissement in order to help in this time of health crisis. A “very natural” gesture she says, adding that “sport movement has a social part” to play. To be more precise, the French high performance’s flagship puts its facilities reserved for trainees at disposal to welcome “about a hundred people from collective housing centers in order to guarantee their confinement because they are potentially the most impacted by the disease”.

And the prestigious sporting facility will not be only useful to hospitals. In a press release, the Minister of Sports says that three types of people will be welcome together. Extra beds are also said to be given to health caregivers here to help local medical staff and who are far away from their homes. Homeless – as badly hit by the impacts of the health crisis – will enjoy it so that they can respect confinement regulations as well.

A uniting movement echoing to the many actions already set up by sport federations and other sport associations such as the upcoming requisition of Paris La Défense Arena initiated by Racing 92 rugby club president. No matter the means, all help is necessary!
