In France, vaccine is the major hope to see things return to normal soon. But as the vaccine campaign is about to begin, what do we know exactly about the immunity it leads to?
In order to help to answer to the French’s questions, an information website, the Vaccin Info Service informative website, has set up a Covid-19 special page. The website warns first against the effectiveness data from the different solutions announced, although they are encouraging, they have to be peer-reviewed.
In the case of the Covid-19 pandemic, vaccines have been developed in record-time. It usually takes years of clinical trials to issue the solution. Yet, the rapidity to develop vaccines complicates the capacity to know fore sure the life-span of immunity imparted by the different solutions. As for the Pfizer solution, medical pharmacology professor and head of the clinical investigation center in Lille, Dominique Deplanque says to Ouest-France that immunity lasts around three months. A booster shot might be needed depending on the observations to come.
