Employees at theCooperl slaughterhouse in Lamballe, Côtes d'Armor, are to receive a 200-euro reward for being vaccinated against Covid-19. This decision has sparked controversy, as it could be seen as blackmail.
"If you're not necessarily attracted by the fact of being vaccinated, it could be another motivation," confides an employee who doesn't seem to be opposed to the measure, to France Info.
The unions, on the other hand, are firmly opposed to this bonus, as it would create inequality between employees, who would have to provide proof of a complete vaccination schedule. However, the French Ministry of Labor specified that a company "may not require its employees to inform it of their vaccination status, nor collect employee health data".
Management assures us that this proposal is part of a national prevention initiative.
This is the first French group to offer a reward to encourage its employees to be vaccinated, unlike in the USA where the practice has become commonplace. Several major groups have already introduced such incentive policies, with bonus amounts varying according to business sector.
