According to the latest bulletin from Météo France, published at 4:27 pm on Thursday January 9, 11 French départements, including Val-d'Oise, are under orange vigilance for flood risks. The areas most concerned are the river sections under high surveillance, notably those monitored by Vigicrues. In the Île-de-France region, vigilance is focused on possible river overflows and the resulting disruption to transport.
In its bulletin, Météo France warns of the risk of flooding, which could lead to power cuts and weaken dykes. The organization recommends following strict preventive measures:
Val-d'Oise is the only département in the Paris region to be under orange alert, joining several others such as Oise, Eure and Seine-Maritime already affected by flooding. Weather conditions described as a "non-exceptional winter episode" are also complicating traffic, particularly in the Hauts-de-France region, where bans on heavy goods vehicles and suspensions of school transport have been put in place. "Power cuts may occur. Dykes may be weakened or submerged", informs Météo-France.
In addition to flooding, disruptions could affect rail and road transport. Caution is therefore advised when traveling in the Paris region and neighboring départements.
In view of this situation, residents of the affected regions are advised to limit non-essential travel and to heed the advice of local authorities.
