This Thursday evening, a bus on fire near the Grésillons station in Gennevilliers, Hauts-de-Seine, caused a major interruption to traffic on the RER C. SNCF announced on X (formerly Twitter) that, for safety reasons, no trains were running between Champ-de-Mars and Pontoise stations, affecting many commuters in both directions. Traffic is also disrupted between Champs-de-Mars and Massy-Palaiseau.
On site, the fire department responded to control the blaze, which was taking place in the immediate vicinity of the railway infrastructure. Although the situation is confined to a specific area, it is having a significant impact on rail traffic. The SNCF has indicated that traffic is expected to resume around 7.30pm, barring any further complications.
To compensate for this disruption, SNCF is implementing alternative solutions. Passengers are invited to consult the SNCF application or station information boards for real-time updates. The incident occurred at rush hour, complicating travel for many people in the Paris region.
As emergency crews work to manage the situation, this event once again highlights the importance of coordination between services to minimize the impact on rail traffic. The resumption of traffic in both directions will depend on the progress of the firefighters' intervention and the technical checks on the tracks after the fire has been extinguished.
We invite you to stay tuned for further updates via the SNCF's official channels.
