For facemask-wearing outdoors does not suit everyone, several private people living in Yvelines have decided to urgently inform Versailles administrative court. On Wednesday January 12, the law proved them right, suspending the prefectorial decree making facemask-wearing compulsory outdoor in Yvelines.
The judge considered compulsory facemask-wearing was to be limited “to time and place of high circulation of people not enabling to keep social distancing, and places where people are likely to gather (such as markets, gatherings or shopping city centers)”.
The magistrate explained “the measure made by the Yvelines prefect causes excessive, disproportionate and inappropriate to the circumstances of time and place damage to people’s individual freedom”.
Following this court ruling, the Yvelines prefecture told AFP they “duly note the decision of Versailles administrative court” and “study it to adapt compulsory facemask-wearing outdoors” (place and time). A new decree from the Yvelines prefecture is to be issued soon.
