Even if the personalities on offer were limited, you were still able to vote in 2022 at the"Grévin Awards", the competition set up by the famous museum to choose the next statue to join its collection. And it was the public who chose through a vote on social networks, with 48% for actor Dwayne Johnson.
This contest, which polled the opinions of the French, was a first in the museum's history. But since the wax statue of Vladimir Putin had to be removed following the invasion of Ukraine, Grévin was looking for a new international figure to appear in the capital's cultural landmark. Internet users could choose between Ariana Grande, Tom Holland, Dwayne Johnson, Zendaya, Dua Lipa, Elon Musk, Selena Gomez, Lupita Nyong'o, Chris Pratt and Margot Robbie. All these actors, singers and celebrities have been in the news in recent years, and are appreciated by a relatively young public, which the Musée Grévin aims to target.
With this vote, the museum of wax statues attracted the attention of younger visitors, with almost a million interactions on social networks. On October 16, 2023, the Musée Grévin will welcome the 1.96m double of the American actor in the Salle des Colonnes, next to Leonardo Di Caprio, George Clooney and Meryl Streep!
