Sam Bobino, founder and president of the Festival du Cinema et Musique de Film de La Baule, as well as co-founder and general delegate of the Semaine du Cinema Positif in Cannes, was honored for his ongoing dedication to promoting the 7th art.
The medal was presented by Sandrine Josso, Member of Parliament for Loire-Atlantique. Josso, who was visiting Cannes for the first time to take part in a round-table discussion on the environment and ecological transition. She took the opportunity to pay tribute to Sam Bobino for his commitment to positive cinema, in the presence of French actor and comedian Eric Judor, patron of this year's 8th Semaine du Cinéma Positif in Cannes.
It's a significant tribute for Bobino, a dedicated cinephile since his high school days when he ran a film club. Today, he divides his time between Paris and Le Croisic, co-presiding over the Festival de La Baule, which he co-founded with director Christophe Barratier. Sam Bobino also created the Apulia Soundtracks awards, another film music festival based in Puglia, southern Italy, near Bari.
This official recognition underlines the importance of Sam Bobino 's work for cinema, while highlighting the essential role that film plays in spreading positive and useful messages to society. This medal not only honors a man, but also a whole vision of cinema.
