Further disruption to public transport in Paris. Line 6 users will have to adapt to new modernization work. The famous green metro line will be closed on several sections for two full days this autumn. We tell you all about it.

As work continues on the Grand Paris Express project in the Paris region, with line 15 Sud due to enter service at the end of 2025, several Paris metro lines are experiencing disruption due to modernization work. This is particularly true of line 6. Traffic has been partially interrupted twice this autumn on this famous Paris metro line, which links Charles de Gaulle - Étoile to Nation via Trocadéro, Montparnasse and Place d'Italie.

Specifically, line 6 will be closed all day on Sunday November 24, 2024, between Nation and Daumesnil stations. Bel-Air, Picpus and Nation stations will be inaccessible, and Daumesnil station will become the temporary terminus for the duration of the work.

Traffic is also interrupted on Sunday, December 8, 2024, again all day long, but this time between Charles de Gaulle - Étoile and Trocadéro stations. On this section, Boissière, Kléber and Charles de Gaulle - Étoile stations are closed to passengers, and Trocadéro station becomes the temporary terminus.

The Régie Autonome des Transports Parisiens explains that this partial interruption to traffic on line 6 is to enable the deployment of the new-generation MP89 trains. "The adaptation of infrastructure to this new rolling stock and the modernization of installations will be completed by 2026, with the modification of rail signaling installations in the Nation and Charles de Gaulle Étoile zones, and online testing of the new train control system.

To help passengers make the most of their journey, RATP has announced the introduction of replacement buses. These will serve both sections of the line, between Daumesnil and Nation, and between Charles de Gaulle - Étoile and Trocadéro.

In detail, these replacement buses will stop and depart from Daumesnil (departure from 54 boulevard de Reuilly), Bel-Air, Picpus and Nation (departure from avenue du Trône/Place de la Nation) then Charles de Gaulle - Etoile (departure from 2 avenue Kléber), Kléber, Boissière and Trocadéro (departure from 93 avenue Kléber).

Alternatively, users can take alternative routes, such as RER line A and metro lines 1, 2, 8 and 9, not forgetting buses (22, 30, 71...).
