Christmas bonus
Like every year, several million French people benefit from monetary assistance during the festive season. The Christmas bonus is paid from Friday December 13, 2024 to people who received the RSA, ASS or AER in November or December of this year. The amount of the bonus is identical to that of 2023.
Prescription of codeine and tramadol
These two drugs are prescribed as painkillers, but present a high risk of dependence. To better control their prescription, France's Agence Nationale de Sécurité du Médicament (ANSM) has decided that codeine and tramadol can only be dispensed on a secure prescription, which is much more difficult to falsify than a normal prescription. What's more, these drugs can now only be prescribed for a maximum of 12 weeks - a new prescription is required to extend treatment with them.
Increase in doctor's fees
Private practitioners are seeing an increase in their fees in December, with the cost of a consultation rising from €26.50 to €30 for general practitioners, and from €31.50 to €35 for children. Specialist doctors can also increase their prices.
